My Top 5 To-Dos to Feel Joyful

“Do the thing you need to do to feel the way you want to feel.”

I heard the quote above several years ago from Robin Long with The Balanced Life on one of my favorite podcasts, Coffee & Crumbs. The message was so simple yet extremely powerful.

I’m in a season raising two small children, building a new business, and playing all the roles as wife, mom, friend, daughter, leader, and the list goes on…I know many of you are in my same shoes.

Despite the chaos, the monotony, and stress, when I think about how I want to feel it’s: Energized, Healthy, Strong, Positive, Grateful and JOYFUL.

Here is my Top 5 To-Dos to Feel Joyful:

  1. Move my body daily. Even 10 minutes does amazing things for my mind and attitude. I’m obsessed with our Peloton. In this season of life I need convenience and I love their platform. I highly recommend!

  2. Eat healthy, energizing food. I’m super affected by what I put into my body at different times in the day. Eating a donut in the morning sends me into a spiral, and working from home makes it far it too easy to crash and want to nap or watch Netflix on the couch. Healthy food + exercise is my recipe for getting shit done and generally feeling my best.

  3. Meaningful moments with my family: Being present is challenging, but it’s something I work at every day. Listening to James’ LEGO talks (even if it’s for the 100th time). Dancing with Molly in the kitchen. Looking Levi in the eyes and kissing him as he leaves instead of the hurried bye.

  4. Human connection. Entrepreneurship is amazing, but it can be lonely. I have to make a concerted effort to connect with friends and other female business owners. Coffee co-working has been amazing for this.

  5. Plan my week: This might be the single most important, yet often hardest things for me to do consistently. Planning our meals, events, appointments, and important tasks that need to get done, before the week begins, makes all the difference. It’s no surprise that prioritizing important over urgent, honoring your calendar and being intentional about how you spend your time during the workday is a game changer for productivity and mental health. Noted!

Bonus: Enjoy coffee EVERY day! Or multiple times per day.
